This site covers up to sixteen generations of known ancestors of John and Pam Maris and the numerous descendant branches we have identified since we began our research in 2000. It remains, however, very much a "work in progress". Our philosophy is to continue development of ancestral lines whilst, at the same time, researching as many descendant lines as possible. In this way, we aim to maximize opportunities to contact new distant cousins and to facilitate sharing of information about common ancestors.
After twelve years of research, we reached the milestone of four hundred "internet cousins" i.e. family history researchers who are related to John or Pam. We are grateful to all of those who have contributed to the development of our family trees and to the seventy four cousins who have already contributed photos to our Photo Gallery. If you have any images of non-living individuals who are listed on this site, we will be pleased to add them to the gallery.
See our Contents page for details of how best to access the information published on this site which now has over five thousand pages of family trees and related information. We have looked at ways of ensuring the long term survival of the research published on this site and are currently engaged in synchronizing our trees with the FamilySearch Family Tree. Our site also features in the UK Web Archive.
Feedback is welcomed on both content and layout of the site. We are particularly keen to identify and correct any significant errors or omissions. We have researched our own ancestral lines by reference to original sources and are as confident as we can be of their accuracy. Our tree, however, contains numerous descendant lines which have been accepted in good faith from distant relatives. Some of these may contain inaccuracies. If you believe you are related to individuals named on this website, we strongly recommend that you do your own research to satisfy yourself that our information is correct.
